How to create and share a gift list

Here's how to create and share a gift list on Gift Compass — save picks from our gift guides or scout ideas on the home page, then send the link to anyone shopping for you.

Step by step

  1. Find gift ideas. Browse our gift guides or describe your recipient on the home page to scout a shortlist of buyable picks.

  2. Tap the heart on a gift you like. Each gift card has a heart icon in the top corner. That opens the save panel.

The heart icon sits in the top-right corner of each gift card.
  3. Sign in free, if you haven't already. Saving to a list requires a free Google sign-in so your picks stay on any device. Your search or guide stays right where you left it.

If you are not signed in yet, the save panel asks you to sign in free.
  4. Choose a list or create a new one. In the save panel, pick an existing list from the dropdown — or type a name to create a new one. You do one or the other, not both.

Signed in, you pick a list or type a new name — plus an optional occasion date.
  5. Optionally set an occasion date. When you're creating a new list or saving to an existing one, you can add a date for email reminders before the big day. It's optional, and the date needs to be at least two days from today so we can email you in time.

  6. Tap “Save gift.” The gift lands in your list. Heart a few more — most people save three to five picks before buying. Once you have at least three saved, you may see a prompt to copy a share link right from the save panel.

After three or more saves, you may see a share prompt right in the save panel.
  7. Open your saved lists. Go to Saved lists to see everything you've collected, organized by list. From here you can remove gifts, mark something as gifted, set or change a reminder, or delete a list.

  8. Turn on sharing. When a list has enough picks, tap “Share list” on that list. That makes it public so anyone with the link can view it. If you change your mind later, “Stop sharing” takes the link offline.

On Saved lists, turn on sharing and copy the link from your list header.
  9. Copy the link and send it. Once sharing is on, tap “Copy link.” The URL looks like /wishlist/your-list-id — send it by text, email, or whatever you usually use.

The link you copy looks like this — send it however you usually share URLs.
  10. Your recipient opens the link. They see the list name and your saved gift ideas — each with a reason it fits and a link to view on Amazon. No sign-in or account is required on their end. They can also scout their own gift ideas from that page if they want.

Your recipient sees the list name and your saved picks — no sign-in required.

Things worth knowing

  • Privacy. A shared link only shows that one list — its name and the gifts on it. It does not expose your account, your other lists, or anything else you've saved.
  • Live updates. The shared page reflects your list as it is now. Add a gift, remove one, or rename the list — anyone with the link sees the current version.
  • Stopping or deleting. If you tap “Stop sharing,” the link stops working and visitors see a not-found page. Deleting the list does the same.
  • Reminders are just for you. Occasion dates and email reminders are private. They help you remember to buy — they are not shown on the shared wishlist.
